When we experience pain and trauma in our lives, it can be hard to see how it could be a part of God's plan. It is easy to buy into the lies Satan tells us about our pain and trauma and makes it much harder to trust in The Lord.
Today I wanted to talk about some of these lies that Satan tells us and show you some irrefutable proof that God cares for his people, even through the worst of times.
Satan's Lie: You will never get past this loss, abuse, emotion, event, whatever it may be.
God's Truth: I will strengthen you and protect you. In 1 Peter 5:10, we read that the God of all grace will make us perfect, strengthen and settle those who he has called to His eternal glory from their suffering, and in psalm 91 the Psalmist says, The Lord is my refuge, in Him will I trust, He will deliver me from the pestilence and I will not be afraid.
Satan's Lie: If God was good he would never have allowed you to experience this hurt and trauma.
God's Truth: 1 Corinthians 14:33 "For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints". We can read also in Genesis that though others thought evil against Joseph, God's plan for good prevailed, as it will in the lives of all his people.
Satan's Lie: You will never be granted peace and this pain will haunt you forever.
God's Truth: God will wipe away all the tears from your eyes. There will be no more death, sorrow or crying. There will be no more pain as all the old things will pass away. (Revelation 21:4)
Satan's Lie: You are all alone in your troubles. God does not care about your suffering.
God's Truth: "When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee:" Isaiah 43:2. "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." Psalm 23:4.
Satan's Lie: Your suffering has no purpose other than to harm you. There is no reason for your suffering.
God's Truth: "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose"Romans 8:28. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end" Jeremiah 29:11.
Satan's Lie: God does not care about you.
God's Truth: God so loved the world that He sent His only son so that we might have life. We read also in Matthew 26, "Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?". "I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee" Jeremiah 31:3
Satan's Lie: You are worthless, why don't you just end your suffering?
God's Truth: We read in Psalm 139, that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and in Genesis that we are made in God's image.
Satan's Lie: You are not strong enough to endure all this suffering.
God's Truth: In Corinthians, we read that God will not tempt you beyond your abilities and that with every temptation He will also provide a way of escape, that you will have the strength to endure it.
I pray that with these truths, your trust in God may be strengthened, knowing that He loves and cares for His people and that He is with you every step of your life.
