WWTW- Persecuted But Not Forsaken

mindfulmamamadness

Do you have days, weeks (or months, or years) where your afflictions feel heavier than you can handle? Do you feel alone, lost and broken down by the troubles you have encountered? Does it sometimes feel like God has left you to suffer alone?

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted but not forsaken, cast down but not destroyed. What a beautiful ray of hope that Paul gave unto the Corinthian believers to show them that they were not as weak as they felt. Paul himself knew all about how it felt to be hard-pressed on every side but to not be crushed because the strength of the Lord was on his side.

Paul describes believers as being earthen vessels, jars of clay, weak and easily broken but holding something that is of great value. This is the glory of God. Though these vessels are weak, when they are broken it is for a purpose. They may be broken so that the light of God's glory may shine forth through the brokenness to show forth the great power of the spirit of God.

In Psalm 9 we read that the Lord will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. In Deuteronomy, we read that God will never leave you or forsake you. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart ( Psalm 34). For the Lord will not forsake his people for his great name's sake: because it hath pleased the Lord to make you his people ( 1 Samuel 12).

There are so many passages in the bible that show us this undeniable truth, that God will not forsake His people. Though we may feel broken and afflicted, cast all your care upon the one that careth for you. Because no matter what trials are sent your way, God will not give you more than you can handle and he will always be with His people to uphold and strengthen them.
