Affirmations. We know them, we hear them, and we maybe even say them for ourselves. But do we believe them to be true about us? Do we take these words to heart and feel confident we are telling the truth when we say them aloud?
So often all of the affirmations we read are very self-centred and accredit all success and strength to individuals rather than the God who giveth all. We can learn so much about our self-worth as we read through the bible. When we draw our affirmations from the bible, we are left with a beautiful list of all the ways we are special and we can know that they are and will always be entirely true! So here is a list of biblically based affirmations, and the verses which they are drawn from, that we can take with us into our days to encourage us and to remind us of our wonderful creator.
I am precious -Isaiah 43:4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life."
God is with me -Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
I am accepted -Romans 15:7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.
I am loved -Jeremiah 31:3 The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
I am blessed -Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.
I am treasured -Deuteronomy 7:6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.
I am chosen -John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you
I am not alone -Hebrews 13:5 for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee, Deuteronomy 31:8 And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
I am capable -Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
God will supply all of my needs -Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
God has a plan for my life -Psalm 138:8 The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me:
I have hope for the future -Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
There are so many more wonderful promises that we can draw from the scriptures but I hope this list may give you some comfort and confidence as well as help to turn your thoughts heavenward as you go through your days.
